PostHeaderIcon Tamworth Osteopath supports England Goalkeeping Legend

Peter Shilton with Tamworth Osteopath John Williams

Tamworth Osteopath assists Peter Shilton, one of England’s greatest goalkeepers, in his quest for fitness.

Peter Shilton has enlisted the help of Tamworth Osteopath and Physiotherapist John Williams of Atlas Pain Relief Centre in an attempt to regain his fitness levels and train injury free.

Peter who holds the record number of caps playing for England is still in demand for after dinner speaking engagements, charity football matches and various corporate promotional penalty shootouts.

Keeping fit is important to Peter who still wants to compete at a high level and in order to do so he needs to have an experienced sports injury practitioner to look after knocks, bruises and niggling injuries.  John is currently working with Peter in preparation for forthcoming events.

John Williams of Atlas Pain Relief Centre in Lower Gungate, Tamworth town centre is an experienced sports physiotherapist and osteopath who is well used to working with other high profile footballers such as Ian Taylor of Aston Villa, David Busst of Coventry City and Des Walker of England and Nottingham Forest.

Peter Shilton has kindly donated a pair of signed goalkeeping gloves to the Staffordshire Pain Relief Centre which will be auctioned at the premature baby appeal concert on August 8th 2009 in the Castle Grounds Tamworth.

Tamworth town centre business Atlas Pain Relief Centre has been trading for 9 years and treats many types of injuries offering fast pain relief.  The Tamworth clinic has been awarded a customer service award certificate for the last 2 years and was outright winners of the Community Services Award in 2008 at the local business awards held at the Aston Villa Football Club in Birmingham.

As a multi-disciplinary practice they offer osteopaths, physiotherapists, acupuncture, podiatry and sports massage under one roof.  All practitioners are experienced in acute and chronic back pain, RSI and trapped nerves.

Many businesses suffer lost time off work from employees who suffer with back pain.  It is now found that more people have back pain from postural causes such as desk based work and driving than manual lifting jobs.

Lost time off work is both inconvenient and costs money and in many cases can be prevented.  Atlas offer businesses a back pain and pain relief treatment service at cost effective rates which can reduce lost time off work and cut out NHS waiting lists for physiotherapy.  Atlas are interested in developing links with local businesses who may need support with physiotherapy and musculo-skeletal conditions.

Local GP practices and PCT ‘s in Staffordshire and North Warwickshire are encouraged to contact John Williams on 01827 59943 if they are interested in using Atlas as a provider of cost effective musculo-skeletal pain relief or physiotherapy under the Practice Based Commissioning initiative.

Many businesses report back pain conditions as their number one cause of lost time at work.

Back pain has many causes but can be as simple as excessive driving, poor seating or workstation positions.  Postural problems and back pain are more common in desk based jobs than in the construction industry.

Driving for long periods can increase the risk of back pain and there are various strategies to address this.  Whiplash type injuries are common following road traffic accidents and need special care if acute pain is present.

A common cause of back pain and RSI is the desktop based workplace.  Many employees sit for long periods slumped over a PC at work or at home.  We all know that time passes so quickly if you are engaged on the PC and before you know it you have been there hours without a break.

Postural muscles fatigue and you can develop ligament sprains in the low back as they become stretched when your body position slumps.  Neck and shoulder pain is another symptom that affects office based employees and may develop into trapped nerves in the neck or shoulder with pins and needles in the fingers.

Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) is very common in office based jobs where the mouse is used on a desktop PC.  Repeated wrist or finger movements when used excessively will cause tendonitis in the wrist or elbow which is often referred to as “tennis elbow”.  This painful condition is easily treated but if left to become chronic can take longer to resolve.

Atlas Pain Relief Centre is a local business employing local people and has become a valuable support to the local community.  60% of the business is from personal referrals which illustrates the importance of customer satisfaction and a significant percentage of enquiries arise from the website www.atlaspainrelief.com
