Tamworth Chiropractor alternatives in Staffordshire
Osteopathy is fast becoming the treatment of choice for many with back pain.
Treatments for back pain and backache are provided by many different practitioners from a variety of professions. In Tamworth there is a selection of professions who have practitioners treating back pain. Tamworth chiropractors offer chiropractic treatments which involves spinal manipulations. An alternative profession that offers spinal manipulations is Osteopathy. Tamworth osteopaths are experienced in spinal manipulations and are experienced at treating back pain. As both professions treat back pain then Osteopathy is a well used alternative to chiropractic treatment by many back pain sufferers.
Physiotherapy is another profession that can deal with back pain, however physiotherapist’s tend to be spread into various specialist areas of healthcare and some physiotherapists have little experience in the field of back pain. They may specialise in neurological conditions, stroke rehabilitation, working with the elderly and many more diverse areas of rehabilitation within the NHS.

Re – Cranial Osteopathy – William Gorton
Dear All
I write to thank you for the help I received in getting my then 8 month old son William to sleep at night.
William had been a good sleeper until he reached 5 months old. He then got gradually worse until he was waking practically every hour through the night and was a nightmare to get back to sleep. After trying all the advice given by our health visitor and family we had raised his cot, taken away his dummy , tried controlled crying , read all the books, bought a humidifier ect ect and nothing had worked.
Three months of no sleep and I was ready to try anything, even though I was sceptical about Cranial Osteopathy. Upon arriving at the Tamworth clinic we were greeted by John who immediately put William at ease and we knew we were in safe hands. To be honest at first it looked as though John had just talked and played with William for 30 minuets whilst holding his hand on his head. I left thinking that I had just wasted £40, until that night when William slept for 4 hours without waking. We continued to go for a further 5 sessions and now William does sleep through the night most nights and if he does wake, it is only usually once. Our family is finally getting the sleep we need and we are much happier.
We would like to say a big thank you to John, we still don´t exactly know what you did and how you did it, but it worked and we are very grateful. William and I enjoyed coming on a Thursday afternoon, to him it was a play date and he will miss you.
We wish you and your staff all the best for the future and will recommend Cranial Osteopathy to all who need it.
Kind Regards
Sara & William Gorton
Birmingham Boxer gets thumbs up from Amir Khan
Amir Khan: Me and Frankie Gavin can do a double
May 1 2008
AMIR Khan is due to make his big Birmingham debut with a fight at the National Indoor Arena next month and has set himself and former sparring partner Frankie Gavin a double target, as he tells Birmingham Mail boxing writer IAN JOHNSON.
AMIR Khan comes to fight in Birmingham on June 21 and has set a terrific target for himself and former amateur sparring pal Frankie Gavin from the Hall Green ABC.
He told me: “This is the year I am going to win a world title and the year when Frankie wins the Gold Medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
“He will become the No1 amateur in the world and I will be the No1 professional. Wouldn’t that be just great? Both of us at the top.
“Frankie is a terrific boxer. We sparred a lot when I was an amateur and it is the likes of him who helped me to win an Olympic silver medal.
“He is a talented and difficult southpaw who can punch and he will go to the Games probably as favourite to take the Gold after brilliantly winning the World and Commonwealth championships.
“Frankie does have to be a bit careful though. The Olympics are like no other competition. Everybody is out to win gold and therefore every fighter is dangerous – even the ones Frankie has already beaten.
“But he will be aware of that and his handlers will make sure that he is right for every fight mentally and physically.
“And when it is all over he will have the problem of whether or not to turn professional. For me it wasn’t difficult.
“Frankie he will be battered by big money offers from the professional ranks but he will also be tempted to stay amateur and compete in the London 2012 Games. Both are hugely tempting.
“If he stays amateur, and the financial grants these days are decent, he will only be 26 when the London Games are over.
“If he joins the paid ranks he will do well and the important thing is to sign up with a manager who can track his career all the way to the top.
“I signed with Frank Warren for that reason although I had bigger money offers from other promoters.
“Frankie and I are both light weights and I am glad I have a head start on him in the pro ranks because he will soon be catching me up.
“We never met as amateurs but maybe we will is pros – me defending my world title at a packed out Wembley or Birmingham NIA. That would be just great.
“Yes I have set myself the target of winning a world title by the end of this year and my fight here in Birmingham will be another step towards achieving my goal.
“After just 17 fights I am rated in the top five so my chance is just around the corner.
“Coming to Birmingham is something I have wanted to do for some time – genuinely.
“I recently brought out a book and had signings at several cities up and down the country. The one in Birmingham was by way the most successful.
“Obviously there is a large Asian population here but I was amazed at the different ages, colours and creeds etc of the fans who turned out in there thousands. We had a fantastic day signing autographs and posing for photos.
“And in the normal day-to-day activities, if there is such a thing, I receive a lot fan mail and E-mails from Birmingham fans.
“So it is good that I come to them instead of them having to follow me to Bolton, London or Cardiff.
“Boxing is a dear sport to follow when you have to pay for tickets, travel, food and maybe a hotel.
“What I need to do now is put on a good winning performance so that my Brummie supporters make the short journey home a happy one,†he added.

Cranial osteopaths, cranial osteopathy and cranio-sacral treatments can be carried out by registered osteopaths. Osteopaths undergo 5 years of training and use many medical diagnostic tests used by the medical profession. This is one of the reasons that many health professionals now see osteopathy as mainstream medicine.
Osteopaths an alternative to Chiropractors and Physiotherapists in the treatment of back pain are highly effective in treating bad backs, back pain, neck pain, stiff necks, trapped nerves, sciatica, whiplash symptoms, bulging discs, slipped discs, twisted pelvis, leg length differences and joint pain. Arthritis symptoms are painful and can be helped by osteopathic treatment. Spinal manipulations used by chiropractors can also be used by osteopaths. The difference is the techniques used in many cases. Osteopaths use indirect techniques and long levers such as your arms and legs to assist the movements whereas chiropractors using chiropractic techniques may use shorter direct manipulations.
Ensure that your therapist is registered with their respective awarding body and if you are suffering from back pain and live in the Birmingham area then try a visit to the Atlas Back Pain Relief Centre in Hall Green, Birmingham. Birmingham Cranial osteopath may help your child
Birmingham cranial osteopath John Williams has helped many families by using cranial osteopathy. Babies and children respond well to cranial osteopathy and cranial osteopaths have recorded much success in treating a wide variety of symptoms in young babies and children.
Based in Hall Green Birmingham at the Atlas Back Pain Clinic on the Robin Hood Island, cranial osteopath John Williams treats symptoms of retained moulding, flat heads, infantile colic, infantile reflux, sleep disorders, irritable babies, restlessness, and much more. The website can be viewed for cranial testimonials by visiting
www.solihullbackpainclinic.co.uk
Cranial helmets have been suggested by worried parents as a possible treatment of babies with an irregular head shape which can show as a flattening on one side of the babies cranium. This is an expensive option for parents and appears to require your child having to wear the helmet for 23 hours per day in some cases. The idea is to stop the child from lying in its favored position and redistribute the load on the cranium from the circular design of the helmet.
The view from Birmingham cranial osteopath John Williams is that irregular head shapes in young children are common and can be caused through internal forces when the unborn infant is in the womb. This can result in retained moulding patterns of the cranium. Further stress from uterine contractions and childbirth can result in much physical pressure exerted on the babies head. Add to this forceps and other intervention methods and it is truly amazing that any child is born with what appears to be a normal head shape.
During the following weeks the child will grow and the cranium begins to form its shape.
It has to be soft and pliable at childbirth to allow for its passage along the birth canal. Once into our world, its head should begin to restore its desired shape. In some children there is a distinct flattening which parents find concerning. Often the baby has no symptoms but from a cosmetic viewpoint is something that begins their search for an answer. Unfortunately there are very few options for worried parents when they search the web for answers. Cranial helmets appear everywhere and with very little or no other options available, this trend of fitting cranial helmets may increase.
Retained moulding patterns can cause irregular head shapes and can be treated by cranial osteopaths, if lying for long periods in a favored position can cause a flattening of the babies head then why aren’t more babies presenting with flat heads, as most sleep on their backs.
It is strange to see in the UK that we put babies to sleep on their backs but talking to a Chinese pediatric consultant recently, she prefers to see babies on their front. The reasoning is that if the child vomits, it can choke, whereas on the front she believes the inherent survival ability of human life will not allow a child to suffocate and it will wake and move if the mouth is covered. Obviously the child should not sleep with a pillow as a newborn.
With much debate from specialists and midwives about how to best rear and protect our babies we must do what we think is best. Go with your instincts and if you consider trying cranial osteopathy, then have an open mind. It will not harm your child and amazing results have been experienced by many parents who decided to seek help after traditional methods failed to make an impression.
Much is still to learn about cranial osteopathy but if possible ensure you use a registered osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC)
